Netflix’s Shadow and Bone has made several major changes from the books, most (if not all) of which have been received very positively by fans. While Six of Crows takes place two years after the timeline established in the Shadow and Bone trilogy, the characters are introduced in the first season of the Shadow and Bone series alongside the central characters of the Grisha trilogy.
